Summer is here and so are the tuna, both Aku (Skipjack) and Ahi (Yellowfin). This month we welcomed a new boat Playtime to the Sportfish Hawaii mix in Kona. Playtime is a smaller boat, 26’ and launches from a trailer, but don’t let the size fool you, these guys can fish! Photo above is one of 8 nice Aku caught at the end of June. Some really nice Mahi Mahi have also been reported, some in the 25lb plus range with multiple Mahi catches on trips throughout June. We also had a few Spearfish brought in as well as a few Ono. On Kauai, bass guide Tom Christy has been dodging some rainshowers but has been able to get out and get into some nice largemouth bass. Hopefully the rains will let up for July (July is usually not very rainy) and the Peacock Bass will start biting more.
