August Fishing Report

August was a productive month with a variety of species reported. Boats brought in multiple Mahi Mahi catches with quite a few weighing in over 25lbs. One trip brought in over 15 Mahi Mahi! There was a good amount of Aku (skipjack tuna) reported with boats also reporting multiple catches on trips. Several nice Ahi (yellowfin tuna) in the 100lb plus range were caught. We also saw several Ono (wahoo), the largest reported was 53lbs. Blue Marlin were also reported, some released and some brought in. The largest we know of weighed in at a nice 418lbs. September should bring more Mahi Mahi with Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna and Aku also continuing. Tom Christy, the bass guide on Kauai was off island the last 2 weeks of the month visiting family so we don’t have a current bass report at this time. Peacock Bass season is winding down a bit in the fall as they bite mostly in the warmer summer months, but Large Mouth and Small Mouth are still biting year round.
