Waimanalo Beach Estate

Sportfish Hawaii specializes in fishing, so we don't normally make lodging recommendations. However, we recently spent a week with friends at their beach front vacation home in Waimanalo and it was such a great place, we wanted to share it with our readers. The home is located beachfront in Waimanalo which is a small rural town on the windward side of Oahu. The home was recently completely renovated and is a welcoming, fun, relaxing island style retreat. We enjoyed morning walks on the beach, evening BBQ's, swimming and just relaxing in the covered patio while listening to the ocean. The house is 10 minutes from Kailua and about 30 minutes from Honolulu. It is a really great place to get away from the crowds and experience a truly relaxing vacation. There are two homes on the estate, both with ocean views. The front house has a master bedroom with ocean view, large living area with ocean view, full kitchen, covered patio, two additional bedrooms with queen beds and a trundle bed in each and second large bathroom plus an outside after beach shower. The front house sleeps 12. There is also a completely fenced yard so the kids can play while the adults relax. The rear house is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath which sleeps 6. This house also has a private yard and a raised covered patio with ocean views. You can rent either house or both and open up the yard into one large private yard. The beach is steps away just beyond the front lawn area. The beach is rarely occupied in front of the estate, so it's a great place for relaxing beach time with the family.
We really loved the home because it was so relaxing and comfortable. The home is very open so even when you are inside you can feel the breeze and hear and see the ocean. The kids had a great time playing in the yard and we didn't have to worry about them running off to the ocean unattended because the yard off the patio is completely fenced in. The room are all beautifully decorated Hawaiian style and the beds were very comfortable, much better than most hotels we've stayed in. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the pots, pans, dishes, etc. that we needed. The cabinet also had a great assortment of spices, etc. that have been accumulated, so it made us feel at home in the kitchen. We enjoyed the home so much we only ate dinner out once during the week. If you are up for some exercise, round trip from the house to the farthest you can walk down the beach is about 5 miles. It's a great morning workout so you can have more Mai Tai's in the evening!!
