Oahu
Bass Fishing - no longer available, sorry
|
| Lake Wilson on Oahu has
been stocked with over seventeen different species of fish
including Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass, Bluegill, Channel
Catfish, Snakehead, Oscar, Tilapia, Red Devil, and the famous and
tough-fighting Peacock Bass. The Peacock Bass is pound for pound one of the top three fighting fish in the
free world. This predator of the shallows is only found in Hawaii,
parts of Florida, Colombia, and Venezuela.
Your guides on Oahu are Ron
"Opy" Johnson and Chris
Wright and his father Stan Wright. You had better come ready to work
because these guys know how to get you into the fish. Live bait
and accurate casting can land you over 25 fish in one
afternoon. They welcome
experienced, beginner fishermen
and kids, although some casting experience is definitely a
plus. The more accurate you can cast, the more fish you will
catch.

The Peacock Bass
average 1 - 2 lbs with 3 - 5 pounders also in the lake. The guide
provides spinning and bait casting gear and you are welcome to
bring fly fishing gear as well. Lake
Wilson is located in the middle of the Island of Oahu, about a 40
minute drive from Waikiki. |

The seasons
The following species are caught in fresh waters all year round, but certain times are
often better than other for certain species. (Note: This is just a
guide. Since the fish can't read the guide, success rates do vary
year to year and month to month and fishing can be slow at times
even when it's normally excellent or good) |

From Harry & Debbie who fished
with guide Chris:
"To
say the least, our recent
fishing expedition was... awesome. In spite of some typical
Hawaiian showers, we had a good time and some great fishing
for Peacock Bass with our Guide/Captain "Chris".
